Maternity Lingerie: Sexy comfort for moms
Maternity lingerie has evolved from the boring granny styles to more fashionable varieties without sacrificing support and comfort. Now that the maternity lingerie market offers stylish ensembles at affordable prices, there’s no more excuse for being a frumpy and unfashionable while you’re pregnant or nursing. Take advantage of the new styles of maternity lingerie, and find yourself feeling sexy and strutting comfortably through motherhood.
Maternity Panties and Pantyhose
Among the maternity lingerie favorites are low-riding thongs, low-riding bikinis and low-riding hotpants that offer sexy comfort without riding up. Choose lingerie fabrics like Italian Nylon and Lycra, which are cool and quick-drying. Unlike cotton which locks in moisture, these thongs have moisture wicking properties to keep pregnant and nursing women dry
There are also a lot of maternity pantyhose available in the market. These usually have special waistbands that give your belly extra support
Nursing Lingerie
Even nursing tops now come in a variety of chic cuts that you can wear both as underwear and as fashionable separates. Choose the ones with cushioned shoulder straps that comfortably slide off for easy nursing.
There are also sexy camisoles that you can wear – even out of bed. When buying this type of maternity lingerie, choose one that has a built-in shelf bra with pull over nursing access.
During and after pregnancy, your breasts usually enlarge, becoming heavier and become more sensitive. So when buying nursing bras, as in any other maternity lingerie, make sure that you are getting the right size. Experts have this easy-to-follow tip for a better fit:
· First, you need to determine the band size. Measure around your body with a measuring tape (just under the arms). If the measurement is an uneven number, round it off to the next even number.
· Next, determine your bust size. To do this, use a measuring tape to measure around the fullest part of your bust. Be sure the tape is flat against your back. Make sure that it is level all around your body.
· Finally, subtract the underarm measurement from the bust measurement and look at the following chart to determine your cup size.

A maternity bra is a good fit if the cup covers your breast and nothing "spills out." The band should also be level all the way around. It should never ride up in back.
Maternity bras with four-hook back closures offer the most flexibility. Should your breasts get slightly bigger as you lactate, you can simply adjust the hook until for the next comfortable fit. Wide cushioned shoulder straps are also a nursing mom’s best friend -- they provide support without digging into your shoulders.
Underwires have become debatable in the maternity lingerie business. Some experts advice against underwired maternity bras for nursing mothers because the wire may press hard on the breast and cause blocked milk ducts. To be safe, choose maternity bras that are made with flexible plastic support. This plastic wire offers the same support as the regular underwire, but feels lighter and less constricting.
