Buying pajamas
It’s hard to beat the comfort and coziness of pajamas. Loose-fitting and soft, the pajama is still what good night’s sleeps are made of. But aside from being snug and comfy, pajamas are also very versatile! A good pair can take you from a cozy night in a log cabin to a sultry rendezvous in the sunset.
So don’t take your buying pajamas for granted. Know what to look for and how to find it, so you can start enjoying your new favorite pair.
1. Know your pajama fabrics
Pajamas come in a variety of materials, each having its own characteristic. When buying cotton, look at the label and grab the ones with the higher cotton count. You may have to pay a little extra, but you will surely use your good cotton pajamas over and over anyway, so why scrimp?
Seersucker pajamas are also a favorite, especially among men. Seersucker is a light fabric that is made by combining rayon, cotton and linen. These pajamas provide enough warmth during cold nights, but still let your skin breathe enough during warmer weather conditions. But if you’re battling winter, then flannel pajamas may be your best bet – they insulate and keep you snug better than any fabric can.
And then there are silk and satin pajamas, which are notorious for their sexy and sensual feel to the skin. These pajamas are perfect for that breakfast in bed in spring, and that morning stroll in summer. Silk pajamas are luxurious and are a little more expensive, but they’re a timeless and versatile investment. Besides, you’re worth it!
2. Go for the classic pajama cut
Pajamas come in different cuts, so find one that works for you best and let that serve as your guide when buying others. Don’t know what works? Then go for the classic appeal of pajamas with traditional notch collar and long sleeves. This style flatters any body type, and is guaranteed to last seasons.
3. Know your pajama size
Pajamas generally come in small, medium and large sizes. If you’re unsure which size fits you, go for the smaller. Pajamas are designed to be loose-fitting, anyway, so you will always have some extra room even of you choose a size down. When choosing pajama pants, get the ones with drawstrings in the front and elastic in the back. They will fit you perfectly every time.
4. Have fun
With thousands of choices out there, choosing just one pair can get very confusing. So allow yourself to fall in love with two, three or more sets of pajamas. If you have no time to go to specialty pajama stores, browse through websites to see the different designs you can choose from. Feast your eyes in a variety of colors and designs – solids, stripes, checkered, floral, even kitschy cartoon prints!
Know what general style and cut works for you, and get them in varying fabrics and designs. Have fun buying pajamas!
